Today, we feature Kaweesa Patrick Ashe, a driven individual studying Construction Engineering, whose journey and insights offer a glimpse into the life of a future leader in the construction industry.


Q&A with Kaweesa Patrick Ashe

Q: Can you tell us a little about yourself and what you’re studying at Busoga University?Kaweesa Patrick Ashe: I'm currently pursuing a degree in Construction Engineering at Busoga University. From a young age, I’ve been passionate about building and design, which naturally led me to this field. I’m excited about the potential to contribute to infrastructure development and sustainable building practices in the future.


Q: What inspired you to choose Construction Engineering as your major?Kaweesa Patrick Ashe: I’ve always been fascinated by the way structures come together, from the design phase to the finished product. The idea of being able to contribute to creating buildings and infrastructure that people will rely on for decades is very motivating for me. Additionally, I see a lot of potential in integrating sustainable practices into construction, which is something I’m particularly interested in.


Q: What has been your most memorable experience so far in the Construction Engineering program?Kaweesa Patrick Ashe: One of the most memorable experiences was working on a group project where we had to design a small-scale building. It was challenging but incredibly rewarding to see our ideas come to life in the form of detailed plans and models. The collaborative aspect of the project also taught me a lot about teamwork and the importance of communication in engineering.


Q: How do you see the future of construction engineering, and where do you see yourself in it?Kaweesa Patrick Ashe: I believe the future of construction engineering lies in sustainable practices and smart technology integration. The industry is moving towards more eco-friendly materials and methods, which is crucial for the environment. In the future, I see myself working on projects that focus on sustainability, possibly even leading initiatives that promote green building practices in Uganda.


Q: What advice would you give to someone considering studying Construction Engineering?Kaweesa Patrick Ashe: My advice would be to stay curious and open-minded. Construction Engineering is a broad field with many opportunities, so it’s important to explore different areas before deciding on a specialization. Also, don’t be afraid to ask questions and seek out mentors who can guide you through the complexities of the field.
