🌍 From BIP Workshops to the UAE

For Jonathan Kisitu, studying Welding and Metal Fabrication at Busoga International Polytechnic was the beginning of a journey that would take him far beyond Uganda.

Like many students, he started with a simple goal — to gain practical skills. Through hands-on training and exposure to real workshop environments, he built a strong foundation in metalwork and fabrication that would later shape his career.

🔧 Building Experience Step by Step

After completing his studies in 2025, Jonathan continued developing his skills locally, gaining experience and refining his craft.

His persistence and commitment eventually opened a new opportunity — one that would take him into an international working environment. With support from BIP, Jonathan secured a role in the United Arab Emirates, marking a significant step forward in his career.

🏭 Working in a Global Industry

Today, Jonathan works with AWTAD, an aluminium metal coating company based in the UAE, where he has spent the past several months in the Metal Coating Department.

His role focuses on powder coating, a modern finishing process used to protect and enhance metal surfaces. Although this was a new area for him at the start, he quickly adapted and expanded his technical abilities.

His daily work involves preparing materials such as steel and aluminium, beginning with surface preparation through sanding, selecting correct colour codes, applying coating, and curing materials in specialised ovens. He is also involved in final inspection, ensuring that all finished products meet required quality standards before release.

⚙️ Adapting to New Skills and Standards

Working in an international environment has exposed Jonathan to advanced industrial processes and professional standards. The experience has strengthened his confidence and broadened his understanding of modern metal fabrication and finishing.

It also required him to learn quickly — adapting to new systems, new expectations, and a different working environment.

🌱 A Foundation That Travels

Jonathan credits his journey to the practical training and discipline he developed at BIP. The skills he gained during his studies prepared him to step into a professional setting and adapt — even in a completely new country.

His story shows that technical education doesn’t stop at local opportunities. With the right foundation, it can open doors internationally.

🚀 A Journey That Continues

From a welding student in Uganda to a technician working in the UAE, Jonathan’s path reflects what consistent effort and hands-on training can lead to.

His journey continues to inspire current students — not because it is extraordinary, but because it shows what is possible when skill, discipline, and opportunity come together.
