👷 Teaching Beyond the Classroom

At Busoga International Polytechnic, technical education is not only shaped by workshops and equipment — it is shaped by the people guiding students through them.

One of those educators is Colline Nabikamba, a Senior Trainer in Fluid Mechanics & Pipefitting Engineering, Computer-Aided Design (CAD), and Construction. His role goes beyond teaching theory. He mentors, challenges, and prepares students for the realities of professional engineering and construction work.

📘 Bridging Theory and Practical Training

With experience across engineering and construction education, Colline combines technical knowledge with practical application. He serves as an OPITO Global 1 Certified Assessor and a Pearson BTEC International Level 2 & 3 Assessor/Internal Verifier in Engineering and Construction.

His teaching approach reflects the balance BIP emphasizes throughout its programmes: understanding concepts while also applying them in real working environments.

Students working with him are exposed not only to technical theory, but also to practical problem-solving, workplace discipline, and industry expectations.

📐 Working Across Engineering and Design

Colline specializes in a broad range of areas including construction technology, construction design, engineering principles, CAD, engineering drawing and design, 3D modeling, health and safety, and employability skills.

He also works extensively with architectural and Mechanical & Electrical (M&E) design software such as AutoCAD, ArchiCAD, and Revit, producing detailed building plans and technical drawings that reflect current industry standards.

For many students, this exposure becomes their first real interaction with professional engineering and construction design tools.

🌱 A Strong Belief in Student Potential

When speaking about students, Colline describes them as hardworking, talented, and full of potential.

He believes growth comes from a combination of guidance, discipline, encouragement, and practical exposure. In his view, students develop confidence not only through success, but through consistent practice and learning how to handle challenges.

“The greatest reward,” he explains, “is seeing students grow academically, professionally, and personally.”

🔧 Preparing Students for Real Work

One of the things Colline values most is practical training.

He especially enjoys seeing students apply their knowledge confidently during workshop sessions and project work — moments where theory begins to translate into competence.

His advice to learners is straightforward:

Remain disciplined. Stay focused. Keep learning.

According to him, success in engineering and construction depends not only on technical ability, but also on adaptability, professionalism, and consistency.

♟️ Beyond Engineering

Outside teaching, Colline enjoys reading technical and educational materials, researching emerging technologies, mentoring students, and designing building concepts.

He also enjoys chess, table tennis, volleyball, travelling, and adventure — interests that reflect both curiosity and strategic thinking beyond the classroom.

🚀 Shaping the Next Generation

Through dedication, professionalism, and a genuine passion for technical education, Colline Nabikamba continues to play an important role in preparing students for the future.

For many learners at BIP, his impact goes beyond lessons and assessments. It is seen in the confidence students build, the discipline they develop, and the professional standards they carry forward into industry.
