🏗️ From General Worker to Site Responsibility
For Pius Wejuli, the journey into construction didn’t start with a title — it started with work.
A graduate of the Pearson BTEC Level 2 Diploma in Construction and Building at Busoga International Polytechnic, Pius has quickly transitioned from training into real responsibility on site. Today, he works with Winning Designs and Consult Limited as a Site Administrator, contributing to multiple construction projects.
His path reflects something simple but important: skill, when applied consistently, creates opportunities.
📐 Learning That Transfers to Site Work
During his time at BIP, Pius engaged with both technical and practical units that now shape how he works every day.
Through modules like Construction Drawing Techniques, Construction Technology, and Construction Design, he developed the ability to read and interpret drawings, understand structural concepts, and take part in discussions that guide project decisions.
On site, this means he doesn’t just follow instructions — he understands them.
🔧 Hands-On Skills That Make a Difference
Beyond theory, Pius built practical skills that are now part of his daily responsibilities.
Training in areas such as masonry, roofing, carpentry, and steel fixing gave him the confidence to engage directly with technical teams and supervise work with clarity. These are not abstract skills — they are visible in the work being done on site.
“They don’t just assign you tasks,” he explains. “They expect you to understand what is happening.”
🚧 Growing Into Responsibility
Pius is currently involved in active construction projects, including work near Wanyange Girls Secondary School. Over time, his role has grown.
He describes the turning point as the moment when others began to rely on him — when workers started asking for his input and when his supervisors recognised his ability to contribute beyond basic tasks.
That shift didn’t happen instantly. It came through consistency and the ability to demonstrate what he knows.
🌱 Looking Ahead
While working, Pius is already planning his next step.
He intends to continue his education by enrolling in a Level 3 Diploma in Construction, funding his studies as part of his long-term goal of becoming an architect or civil engineer.
For him, Level 2 was the foundation. What comes next is about building on it.
💬 A Simple Message to Others
Pius is clear in his advice to current students and graduates:
Don’t underestimate what you’ve learned.
Use it. Apply it. Trust it.
He believes that competence and self-belief go hand in hand — and that both are necessary to grow in the construction field.
🤝 Gratitude Along the Way
He also acknowledges the role BIP played in his journey — from training to support and guidance.
Looking back, he recognises that his progress didn’t come from one moment, but from steady development over time.
